Lebanese Authorities Open Emergency Shelters Amid Rising Displacement

Lebanon’s Disaster Risk Management Unit has released a list of available shelters across multiple governorates as a precaution amid the latest security developments. The announcement aims to ensure that residents have access to safe spaces if the situation worsens.

Public schools to serve as temporary shelters

Authorities have designated public schools in Beirut, South Lebanon, and Nabatieh as emergency shelters. These schools will be activated in coordination with local authorities whenever needed, providing safe accommodation for displaced families.

Thousands registered in emergency shelters

The Disaster Risk Management Unit reported that 58,064 displaced people have been registered so far. Currently, 321 shelters are open and ready to host residents affected by the ongoing crisis.

Government sends safety alerts to residents

Today, many residents received text messages from the Disaster Management Unit advising anyone in need of shelter to contact the designated hotlines. These messages provide guidance for accessing emergency shelters across all governorates.
