Lebanon Faces Polar Storm: Here’s Some Safety Tips And Precautions!

The Internal Security Forces have announced that, according to the meteorological department, a polar weather system is heading our way tonight.

Cold air will bring a sharp temperature drop, with heavy rain and snow starting Saturday, especially in the north and above 300 meters.

The storm is expected to stick around until Tuesday morning before the weather starts clearing up.

The Internal Security Forces urged people in mountainous areas to stay safe by:

  • Keeping an eye on weather updates
  • Ensuring heating sources are safe and sufficient
  • Staying indoors unless it’s urgent
  • Turning off heating devices with open flames before sleeping or going out

Driving safety tips:

  • Avoid mountain trips unless necessary
  • Check tires, wipers, lights, and battery
  • Don’t drive under the influence
  • Avoid speeding and reckless driving
  • Carry emergency supplies like a spare tire, medications, and a phone

Coastal residents should:

  • Avoid areas near wave breakers and advertising boards
  • Do not attempt to drive on flooded roads

Heating safety measures:

  • Regularly clean heaters
  • Ensure the safety of electric and gas heaters
  • Ventilate homes continuously when using coal, wood, or gas

In case of any emergencies, citizens are urged to contact 112 or the General Directorate of Civil Defense at 125.
