Lebanon Records Lowest Inflation Rate For The First Time In Four Years!

Lebanon’s annual inflation rate fell to 41.8% in June 2024, down from 51.6% the previous month, marking its lowest level since March 2020, according to the Central Administration of Statistics.

Dollar pricing contributes to inflation moderation

The decline in inflation is due to businesses, shops, and restaurants adopting dollar pricing to protect profit margins, which has helped moderate inflation amid extensive dollarization.

Price trends

Housing and utility prices saw the highest increase at +2.01% monthly, while miscellaneous goods and services experienced the largest decrease at -2.42%. Leisure prices also slightly fell by -2% this month.

Regional CPI trends

The CPI decreased overall in Nabatieh (-0.5% monthly) and Mount Lebanon (-0.31%). At the same time, it increased in all other regions, starting with southern Lebanon (+2.57%), followed by Beirut (+1.29%), northern Lebanon (+0.49%), and finally the Bekaa (+0.44%).
