Lebanon’s Minister of Public Health, Firas Abiad, emphasized that the stock of medications for chronic diseases is sufficient for at least four to five months.

He emphasized that MEA prioritizes health and secures imports, replenishing Lebanon’s supply of chronic disease medications, with new shipments expected in four months when current stocks are depleted.

Regarding cancer treatments, Abiad assured their availability, stating that current stocks are adequate for a period of six months.

Abiad noted that 233 healthcare centers are serving 788 accommodation areas, with 1.6 million medication boxes distributed, including around 500,000 packs provided to shelters in partnership with the WHO.

Addressing the cholera outbreak in accommodation centers, the health minister announced vaccination campaigns in Akkar, Bekaa, Baalbek, and Hermel.

The minister instructed all hospitals to tackle the issue and reported only one confirmed cholera case, clarifying that these cases are not related to the recent displacement due to escalating tensions between Hezbollah and Israel.
