Lebanon’s Parliament Just Extended The Term Of The Army Commander

Lebanon’s parliament extended on Friday the term of army commander Joseph Aoun to prevent a leadership vacuum amid a border conflict with Israel, as Aoun was set to retire on January 10, 2024.

The Parliament approved delaying the retirement of senior officers at the head of the military and security services for one year.
