A Lebanese Athlete Shatters World Record At Powerlifting Championships!

At just 23, Lebanese athlete Étienne Chaer broke the world record in the open category by deadlifting a whopping 396 kg Raw.

So what happened at the IPF classic powerlifting championships?

The IPF Classic Powerlifting World Championships 2024 took place in Druskininkai, Lithuania, from June 15 to 23. Étienne El Chaer, who recently moved up from the junior category, competed in the 120 kg category and set a new IPF Raw Deadlift world record with his impressive 396 kg lift.

A journey full of ups and downs

Étienne’s journey in the competition was full of highs and lows. Despite a rough start, he approached the deadlift phase with confidence. His first attempt saw him lift an impressive 370 kg, boosting his ranking. However, his second attempt at 396 kg was disqualified due to minor technical issues, like a trembling knee and a slightly slouched posture at the end.

Sealing the record under pressure

Under immense pressure for his final attempt, Étienne nailed it, locking out the lift perfectly and setting a new world record in the IPF U120KG category.

Étienne Chaer’s incredible performance has not only earned him a world record but also solidified his place as a rising star in the powerlifting world.
