Lebanese Athletics Delegation Won Ten Medals In U-23 Arab Championships!

The Lebanese athletics team made quite an impression at the five-day Under-23 Arab Championships held in Ismailia, Egypt.

These young athletes showed off their incredible skills, outshining competitors from nations with more resources and established champions.

Medal haul and new records

Lebanon returned home with a remarkable collection of medals: two gold, five silver, and three bronze. They also set a new national record in the women’s 4×100-meter relay. Here’s a quick rundown of the standout performances:

Marc Anthony Ibrahim: He ran the 400m in 48.08 seconds in the semi-finals and 47.35 seconds in the finals, snagging a bronze medal. He also excelled in the 400-meter hurdles with a semi-final time of 54.29 seconds and a final time of 49.94 seconds, earning him a gold medal.

Racha Badrani: She clocked 55.16 seconds in the 400m, winning a silver medal, and in the 400m hurdles, she completed it in 59.60 seconds, clinching gold.

Tamer Saleh: He ran the 100 m in 10.41 seconds in the semi-finals and 10.32 seconds in the finals for a bronze medal. In the 200m, he finished the semi-final in 21.25 seconds and the final in 21.01 seconds, taking home the silver.

Mayssa Mouawad: She finished the 100m in 11.64 seconds for a silver medal and the 200m in 24.07 seconds, also winning silver.

Haya Kobrosly: She ran the 100m in 11.95 seconds, securing a bronze medal, and the 200m in 24.91 seconds.

Ammar Hammoud: placed 4th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.37 seconds.

Lynn Ghazawi: She competed in the 400m with a time of 1:01.73.

Women’s 4x100m Relay: The team, consisting of Haya Kobrosly, Lynn Ghazawi, Racha Badrani, and Mayssa Mouawad, set a new national record with a time of 46.91 seconds and earned a silver medal.

 

A hero’s welcome in Beirut

When the team returned to Beirut, they were greeted with a warm reception from Roland Saadeh, president of the Lebanese Athletics Federation, along with federation members and the athletes’ families. Their impressive achievements were celebrated, marking a proud moment for Lebanese athletics.
