Lebanese sprinter Noureddine Hadid, who made the cut for the 100 meters at the Paris Olympics, has been arrested in Lebanon for deserting the army.
A source revealed that the 31-year-old athlete, also a soldier, “has been detained by the Lebanese army since he arrived in Lebanon and is serving a ten-day prison sentence for deserting without resigning.”

Roland Saadeh, president of the Lebanese Athletics Federation, said Hadid qualified for the Olympics with a 10.27-second time for the 100 meters, and the Federation isn’t planning to nominate a replacement.
Even though he left Lebanon in 2023 to live in France, Noureddine Hadid returned to Lebanon to turn himself in to the armed forces.
