Israeli Tank Fire Kills Lebanese Maronite Catholic Priest In Southern Lebanon

An Israeli tank fired at a house in southern Lebanon, killing Lebanese Maronite Catholic priest Father Pierre Al-Rahi. The strike took place in the Christian village of Qlayaa in the Marjayoun district, an area located near the Israeli border.

Priests Refused Order to Evacuate the Village

Father Al-Rahi had earlier refused, along with other priests, to follow an Israeli military order to evacuate the village. The clergy chose to remain in Qlayaa despite the rising tensions and the growing danger surrounding the area.

A Final Message of Peace

A day before his martyrdom, Father Al-Rahi spoke from the steps of his church in Qlayaa, explaining the priests’ decision to stay in the village. He said they had chosen to remain despite the risks, standing by their community during difficult times.

Standing Unarmed for Their Land

Father Al-Rahi stressed that their choice came from a belief in protecting their land peacefully. He made clear that they carried no weapons and stood only for peace and love. His martyrdom shocked many and left a deep impact on people across the community.
