Praising the mission’s efforts, on Thursday 26th, Dr. Zahi Hawass held a press conference to announce the findings of his latest archaeological mission. During the conference, Hawass unveiled the latest discoveries affirming the importance of archaeological discoveries. He also affirmed the need to maintain morale and hope in finding as many artifacts as possible that can lead to Queen Nefertiti’s Tomb. Additionally, Hawass revealed during the press conference all details that resulted in the success of the major discoveries!

The discoveries include a collection of tombs, sarcophaguses, mummies, bowels, and colored statues all preserved in perfect condition and dating back to the New Kingdom of Egypt. The most important findings of this mission were the tomb of King Onas’ Priest, the last king of the fifth dynasty and his job was to supervise the employees. The second tomb belonged to a man named Muri, a priest and an assistant to the leader of the King’s Mansion.

The mission has also found 12 unnamed statues that date back to the 6th dynasty, and after inspection, the mission found that 9 of these statues belong to a priest named Mssi, the priest of King Bibi I’s pyramids. The remaining 3 statues were then found to belong to a man named Fetek, who was a judge and a writer along with an offering table.

The mission also discovered the tomb possibly the oldest, perfectly preserved mummy in Egypt. The mummy is believed to be 4300 years old. The sarcophagus has been left untouched and unopened. However, Upon opening the sarcophagus, a man’s mummy was found covered in gold foil, making it the oldest, most perfectly preserved unroyal mummy ever found in Egypt.
