Cairo Achieves Self-Sufficiency In Fruits And Vegetables

Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture announced self-sufficiency in Vegetables and Fruits

The official spokesman of the ministry, Mohamed El Qersh announced earlier that Egypt has officially achieved self-sufficiency in Vegetables and Fruits along with a surplus that is allowing the country to export to others abroad.

This information was revealed by the spokesman during a phone interview with the “Al Youm” talk show on DMC TV Channel.

He also suggested that the ministry is currently planning on implementing a contract farming policy. By implementing this policy, in the corps of sunflower and corn, a fair price would be ensured to the farmers and the provision of edible oils to Egyptian citizens in the upcoming period.

Qersh also announced that Egypt has exported 6.5 Million tons of various crops in 2022, specifying that Egypt ranked first in exporting citrus fruits, frozen strawberries, garlic, and onion.
