Some stories tug at the heartstrings, and the tale and long-lasting friendship of Lobna Abdelaziz and El Andaleeb is no exception.
Decades after their paths diverged, Lobna’s memories still shimmer with emotion, regret, and a touch of old Egyptian Hollywood glamour.
Her recent interview brought a wave of nostalgia and a few tears, as she finally opened up about a promise left unkept and a friendship that never faded.

Recounted Lobna the night she left for America, her voice trembling with the weight of years gone by.
El Andaleeb, the legendary Abdel Halim Hafez, stayed with her until the early hours, refusing to leave her side. He made her promise to return, and she agreed, not knowing how life would sweep her away.
The memory of that night, with its whispered goodbyes and hopeful promises, still lingers in her heart like the final notes of a classic song.
Found out Lobna, while in America, that her dear friend had passed away. Her friends, hoping to spare her pain, kept the news from her for a long time.
When she finally learned the truth, the sorrow hit her like a tidal wave. She confessed, ‘Of course, I used to cry a lot for him. I wept a lot for him, of course.’
The regret of not returning in time, of not keeping her promise, weighed heavily on her soul.
Lobna vistied his grave as soon as she returned to Egypt, reciting Al-Fatiha and letting her tears speak the words her heart could not.
Their friendship had blossomed on and off the silver screen, starring together in the 1957 film El Wesada El Khalia.
Though life led her to other roles and other co-stars, the bond with El Andaleeb remained unforgettable. Even now, his songs can bring a tear to her eye—and maybe to yours, too.
