Cairo Governorate Conducts Renovations on the city’s historical sites and Egyptians aren’t happy about it!

An official source in the governorate of Cairo denied reports about the demolition of Ms. Psychiatry’s graves and around Imam el-Shafei’s area, stressing the need to investigate the truth about removing some graves.

The official also stated that these tombs were removed with the consent of the families responsible for them and given adequate time to transport the remains while providing an alternative headquarters in the 10th area of Ramadan, which was done with all the graves removed.

An official noted that work is being carried out within the Historical Cairo Project.

The preservation of its heritage will result in the development of slums and the transformation of these areas into civilized landscapes.

They also stated that these places are among the vast areas that have not been developed for long periods and are being renovated to protect cairo’s history and heritage.

However, Egyptians oppose these renovations, claiming that they may endanger the historical value of these sites as some of these areas date back to 969 and Fatimid Caliphate!
