In the face of Okhtein’s growing online criticism, Shark Ayman Abbas has stepped in to defend the founders, Aya and Mounaz Abdel Raouf.
The duo, known for their social enterprise, found themselves under scrutiny after a recent appearance on Shark Tank.
Ayman Abbas, however, took to social media to clarify the situation and provide a different perspective, aiming to set the record straight.

The controversy began when a business owner pitched her clothing line on Shark Tank, a popular TV show where entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to a panel of investors.
During the episode, Okhtein, who were guest sharks, raised concerns about the high price tags on some of the products, specifically a coat priced at EGP 19,000.
They pointed out that the price didn’t align with the perceived quality of the product, which led to an online debate.
The Internet Reacts
What followed was a wave of online backlash. Critics argued that Okhtein’s own products, which are also positioned at higher price points, seemed to contradict their advice to the business owner. Some pointed out the irony of a brand that champions local artisans and social causes pricing their items similarly high. Others defended Okhtein’s approach, asserting that their critique was based on sound business strategy rather than an attack on the business owner.
Ayman Abbas, a well-known figure in the business community, took to social media to defend Okhtein.
In his post, he revealed that the viral clips circulating on social media didn’t accurately reflect the full context of the conversation.
Abbas clarified that Okhtein were actually supportive of the business owner’s vision, even encouraging her to increase the price, if anything, to better reflect the value of her work.

The ongoing online debate revolves around the delicate balance between pricing, brand value, and social impact. Okhtein’s products, which are often priced higher due to the craftsmanship and ethical production methods behind them, have raised questions about whether their advice to the business owner was purely business-driven or rooted in their own pricing model.
Some argue that Okhtein’s pricing strategy is justified given their market positioning and the materials they use, while others believe the brand should be more sensitive to the challenges faced by emerging businesses trying to build their brand and credibility.
