Nouran Gohar is already the world’s number one ranking female squash champion, but she’s just proved why she deserves that title yet again.
Defeating fellow Egyptian player and six-time world champion Nour El Sherbini in the championship match at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia, Gohar won the US Open Squash Championship, the most prestigious squash event in the United States.
With her triumph, Gohar has now won two Professional Squash Association (PSA) titles this year, giving her a total of 19 titles since her debut in 2013.
Gohar is now one of just two men or women to have won the US Open three times in a row, matching the feat of squash champion Nicol David.
