Marvel’s Egypt-Inspired Moon Knight Just Took Home An Emmy

Marvel’s Moon Knight, which is currently streaming on Disney+, and is directed by Egyptian award-winning filmmaker Mohamed Diab, has just made another headline.

The show just won its first Creative Arts Emmy for sound editing

Since its debut in March, the six-episode limited series has generated controversy, garnering eight Emmy nominations as well as a win for the series’ fifteen-member sound editing crew for “Outstanding Sound Editing For A Limited Or Anthology Series, Movie Or Special.”

May Calamawy, an Egyptian-Palestinian actor, was cast in a leading role alongside Amr Al-Qadi, Zizi Dagher, Ahmed Dash, and the series’ soundtrack, which was composed by renowned Egyptian musician Hesham Nazih and nominated for an Emmy award.
