The Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abd El Ghaffar, told CNN that Egypt has been coordinating with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, and Al Shifaa Hospital to transfer 36 at-risk babies after oxygen has been cut from their incubators.
Abdel Ghaffar told Eleni Giokos that Egypt has been asked by the hospital to transfer the babies after Israel’s catastrophic attack on the last remaining generator at the hospital.
Israel has been brutally targeting Palestinian hospitals in Gaza, claiming that they’re being used by Hamas as secret bases and that these hospitals include tunnels under them.
Their attack on Al Shifaa Hospital jeopardized the lives of many Palestinian patients, doctors, nurses, and displaced civilians who took shelter at the hospital; believing it would protect them from the occupying force’s non-stop bombardment.
Some of the affected by Israel’s attack were 39 babies, who were present in the Neonatal intensive care unit. After the attack on the generator, oxygen, heat, and proper monitoring was cut, causing 3 babies to brutally die, and leaving 36 in grave danger.
Therefore, the Egyptian minister announced that Egypt is ready at the Rafah border crossing with 36 ambulances equipped with portable ventilators waiting at the border to receive these children and bring them immediately to our hospitals”
