This visit, at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was set to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and Turkey.

During the visit, the two leaders engaged in extensive discussions and co-chair the inaugural meeting of the High-level Strategic Cooperation Council.
