Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi recently made his first visit to Turkey since taking office, following an invitation from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This visit aimed to strengthen ties between the two countries after years of strained relations.
Both leaders will co-chair the first High-level Strategic Cooperation Council, focusing on regional issues and enhancing cooperation in trade, defense, energy, and more. They also signed several agreements, marking a new chapter in Egyptian-Turkish relations. On social media, President el-Sisi expressed his enthusiasm for the visit and the strong ties between the two nations.
This visit, at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was set to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and Turkey.
During the visit, the two leaders engaged in extensive discussions and co-chair the inaugural meeting of the High-level Strategic Cooperation Council. Key topics on the agenda include enhancing cooperation, addressing regional issues such as the Gaza ceasefire. Moreover, signing several memorandums of understanding across various sectors.
Earlier this year, the two nations agreed to “turn a new page” during Erdoğan’s visit to Cairo, signaling a new era in Turkish-Egyptian relations.
Expressing his enthusiasm, President el-Sisi took to his X account (formerly Twitter), stating: “I am deeply pleased with my first visit to the Turkish Republic and my meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Our two ancient nations share deep-rooted historical and popular ties, and they have enjoyed strong political relations since the establishment of the Turkish Republic by its founding leader, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.”
This visit is expected to mark a significant milestone in the relations between Egypt and Turkey, paving the way for further cooperation across various sectors.
