In a heartwarming gesture, Mohamed Abdel Latif, the Minister of Education and Technical Education, welcomed Ali Hamada Mahmoud, a sixth-grade student from Zat Al-Nataqeen School in Saffat Al-Laban, Giza. A video of Ali selling products at a metro station after school went viral on social media, and the minister wanted to support and acknowledge his efforts to help his family.
During a warm conversation, the minister praised Ali for his hard work at school and his initiative to assist his family, especially his younger brother who is undergoing treatment at the 57357 Children’s Cancer Hospital.
The minister directed that Ali be exempted from school fees until he completes his pre-university education. He also instructed the Giza Education Directorate to monitor his academic progress at school and provide all necessary support due to his dedication to his studies. Additionally, the minister coordinated with the Ministry of Social Solidarity to conduct a social assessment of Ali’s family to ensure they receive all forms of assistance.
A photo of Ali sleeping in his school uniform at a metro station, with prayer beads he was selling beside him, had gone viral on social media, garnering a lot of sympathy from users. In a video, the boy explained that after finishing school, he goes to the metro stations to sell the beads to earn enough for his school supplies and to help his mother cover the costs of his younger brother’s medical treatment.
