Egyptian footballer Ahmad Hassan “Kouka,” who plays for Portuguese side Rio Ave, has paid tribute to Khaled Nabhan and his late granddaughter Reem in a heartfelt gesture that has resonated deeply.
Khaled Nabhan, a Palestinian grandfather in Gaza, became a symbol of grief and resilience last year after a heartbreaking social media video showed him bidding farewell to his 3-year-old granddaughter, Reem, after her tragic death. He described her as “the soul of my soul,” and his emotional moment touched hearts around the world.
Tragically, on Monday, Khaled himself was killed by Israeli fire, further deepening the sorrow for his family and community. In honoring both him and Reem, Kouka’s gesture serves as a reminder of the power of solidarity, remembrance, and respect.
