Egyptian football giants, Al Ahly, demonstrated their championship form with a 3-0 win over UAE’s Al-Ain FC at Cairo International Stadium, marking an impressive start to the inaugural FIFA Intercontinental Cup. This victory not only highlights Ahly’s prowess as African champions but also brings them the title of the African-Asian-Pacific Cup.
Ahly nearly opened the scoring twice in the first ten minutes, with forward Hussein El-Shahat and Wessam Abou Ali both creating promising chances, only to be thwarted by Al-Ain’s skillful Emirati goalkeeper. However, it was Palestinian striker Abou Ali who broke the deadlock in the first half, taking advantage of an error by Al-Ain’s Portuguese defender Fabio Cardoso within the penalty area.
This goal set the pace for the remainder of the match, with Ahly maintaining dominance on their home turf, delivering a performance that left fans hopeful for their upcoming challenge against top international contenders.
