Al-Moez Area Embraces Islamic Architectural Magic

Avatar

The ongoing development project of Historic Cairo, encompassing areas like Al-Hussein, Darb Al-Labanah, Al-Gamaliyah, Al-Muizz Street, the vicinity of Al-Hakim Mosque, Bab Al-Nasr Gate, and other districts in Old Cairo, is currently underway. The project aims to transform the streets of Historic Cairo into an open-air museum for tourists, preserving the buildings from decay.

Simultaneously, while facades are being restored, the remains are being repurposed after clearing them of debris. Additionally, buildings at risk of collapse are being rebuilt in the same architectural style as the area, alongside the creation of hotels within the ancient ruins, a commercial market, parking lots, and a mechanical garage.

The ongoing renovations and finishing touches are directed at adapting the facades of well-preserved properties to the design and architecture of Islamic heritage. This includes the addition of new balconies to harmonize the façade with the architectural character of Historic Cairo. Specially crafted wooden façades are also being designed to match the ancient balconies of Islamic Cairo.
