During the post-match press conference, Faé openly criticized Egypt’s style of play, describing it as overly reliant on protesting, exaggerating contact, and attempting to influence referees.
He said he has known Egyptian football since 2006 and, in his view, the team has a long history of “complaining, crying, and acting” on the pitch.
Faé explained that Egypt’s experience allows them to gain an edge in these situations, slowing the game down and using disputes to their advantage.”
However, the controversy didn’t stop at his comments. Shortly after the press conference, a clip circulated online showing Faé refusing to shake the hand of an Egyptian defender immediately after the match, while using highly aggressive and inappropriate language.
The incident quickly went viral, with many viewers and football fans calling out the coach’s behavior as unprofessional and unbecoming of a leader on the international stage.
The combination of critical remarks about Egypt’s tactics and the widely shared video of his on-field conduct sparked widespread discussion on social media.
Fans and pundits alike debated the line between frustration and professionalism, with many emphasizing the need for respect and sportsmanship even in defeat.
