The Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation has issued a decision to name the VIP lounge at Aswan International Airport after Dr. Magdi Yacoub in recognition of his numerous and outstanding contributions to heart surgery and transplantation, as well as his unprecedented scientific achievements in serving humanity.
This decision reflects Egypt’s commitment to honoring scientists and innovators from various fields who have contributed to global human progress, recognizing them as shining symbols who have elevated Egypt’s name and status worldwide.
According to the ministry’s statement, on Tuesday, Dr. Samah Al-Hefni, Minister of Civil Aviation, issued the decision to name the VIP lounge at Aswan International Airport after Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub, Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London, and founder of the major medical institution “Magdi Yacoub Foundation for Heart Disease and Research” in Aswan.
This tribute is in recognition of his long scientific career and significant contributions to heart surgery and transplantation, particularly his groundbreaking achievement in the development of heart valves. Additionally, his immense services in treating patients and saving lives worldwide were highlighted. His pictures will also be displayed in all departure and arrival halls at Aswan International Airport.
This honor reflects the aviation sector’s pride in Egypt’s esteemed scientists who have illuminated the world with their exceptional contributions, acknowledging the vital role of Egyptian scientists as sources of pride and role models for future generations.
