The Supreme Council of Universities in Egypt has extended the smoking ban on university premises to encompass e-cigarettes and vaping. Previously, during the 2019-2020 academic year, the Supreme Council of Universities had issued a directive prohibiting smoking on campus, imposing fines ranging from EGP 20 to EGP 50 for those caught smoking indoors, depending on their university affiliation.

The recent decision now explicitly prohibits smoking, including e-cigarettes, in indoor areas, terraces, study halls, and restrooms. Offenders will be subject to fines, irrespective of their university type (public, private, or technological), with a penalty of EGP 50 per person for smoking in unauthorized zones.
