“This is not just a government demand; this is a national initiative,” Hawass declared. He made it clear that the Egyptians are eager to see the return of this important piece of heritage. He urged supporters from all over the world to back this cause by signing the petition on his website.
“What I need from everyone here is to visit the website and sign to show your support for the return of this bust,” Hawass said in a passionate plea.
This is not the first time Zahi Hawass has made a petition to return Egypt’s antiquities. Hawass previously signed a petition to return the Rosetta Stone, which has been in the British Museum since 1802.
As the petition gains traction, it is clear that the debate is not over yet. Egyptians and history lovers worldwide now have the chance to make their voices heard and support the return of one of the ancient world’s most iconic figures.
