In a commendable move aimed at promoting hygiene and humane treatment of sacrificial animals during Eid Al Adha, the Cairo Governorate has announced a remarkable initiative. Citizens will have access to free slaughterhouse services across various locations in the city throughout the festive period.
With the approval of the Governor, the Veterinary Medicine Directorate in Cairo has orchestrated this endeavor to tackle the prevalent issue of street slaughtering while upholding sanitation standards. This initiative not only addresses the concerns of street slaughtering but also aims to ensure the cleanliness of public areas.
Exclusively available to the public, these complimentary services encompass a range of provisions, including thorough medical examinations for sacrificial animals, access to fully-equipped slaughtering facilities, provision of water, animal accommodation facilities, and designated parking spaces. However, citizens are required to bring their own butcher.
Participating slaughterhouses, including Al-Ali, Jerko, Al-Salam, Al-Mumtaz, Tura, and Helwan, will operate around the clock during Eid Al Adha, ensuring accessibility for all. Services provided extend beyond mere slaughtering facilities, encompassing pre-slaughter animal inspections, meat quality assessments, and accommodation until the conclusion of the slaughtering process.
This generous initiative not only offers convenience to citizens but also underscores the government’s commitment to promoting responsible and compassionate practices during this sacred occasion.
