3 Egyptian Monks Murdered In A Monastery In Johannesburg, South Africa
The Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church announced the tragic murder of three Egyptian Monks in Johannesburg, South Africa after being subjected to a criminal attack in the monastery of Saint Mark the Apostle and Saint Bishop Samuel.
The Church stated that the victims were Yostos Ava Markos, Mina Ava Markos, and Hegumen Takla El Samuely.
The Egyptian Coptic Church expressed its profound grief over such a tragic accident and stated that Pope Tawadros II was following up with officials on all the details of this accident to determine the cause.
Additionally, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar, condemned the killing of the three moks and offered his condolences to Pope Tawadros II and the families of the victims.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs & The Egyptian Embassy in Johannesburg
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Egyptian Embassy in the South African capital, Pretoria, is closely following up with the investigations into the killing of the three monks.
The statement explained that Ambassador Ahmed Al-Fadhli, the Egyptian ambassador to Pretoria, and members of the embassy moved immediately to the site of the accident, after direct communication with the leaders of the Investigation and Forensic Sector of the South African Ministry of Police, which immediately began investigating the accident.

According to Cairo24, the Cullinan City Court in South Africa witnessed the first investigation sessions with two people accused of killing 3 Egyptian monks.
The Washington Post indicated that one of the accused holds Egyptian citizenship, Saeed Basinda, 37 years old, and the other is Samuel Avamarcos, 47 years old from South Africa, and they reside in the same area.
They also added that the trial was postponed to March 27, to complete investigation procedures.
