Egypt Is Urging Citizens Not To Travel To Lebanon Except In Cases Of Extreme Necessity

Amid escalation in Lebanon

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday urged Egyptian citizens to avoid traveling to Lebanon at this time, except in cases of extreme necessity, due to the escalation of military operations on the Israeli-Lebanese border.

The Ministry also urged Egyptian citizens residing in Lebanon to exercise utmost caution, avoid areas experiencing tension, follow the instructions of the relevant Lebanese authorities, and maintain continuous contact with the Egyptian Embassy in Beirut.

Moreover, Israel has announced preparations for a possible ground invasion and is urging people in southern Lebanon to immediately evacuate their homes and buildings.

US calls for immediate ceasefire

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced Wednesday, that the Israeli raids on southern Lebanon led to the death of 23 civilians and the injury of more than 95 others, according to the Lebanese News Agency.

Meanwhile, The United States, and several allies called for an immediate 21-day ceasefire across the Israel-Lebanon border while also expressing support for a ceasefire in Gaza following intense discussions at the United Nations on Wednesday.

United Nations chief António Guterres has warned that Lebanon is “on the brink,” calling on Israel and Hezbollah to “stop the killing and destruction.” He said the country had been experiencing its bloodiest period “in a generation” since their conflict escalated.
