Egypt Strongly Rejects Netanyahu’s Allegations Of Maintaining Israeli Military Control Over the Philadelphi Axis

Egypt strongly condemned statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Tuesday. In his remarks, Netanyahu insisted on maintaining Israeli military control over the Philadelphia axis. This is a narrow strip of land along the Egypt-Gaza border.

Netanyahu’s statements have drawn criticism for potentially obstructing the ongoing negotiations aimed at achieving a ceasefire. The negotiations also seek a hostages exchange between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.

In response, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a firm statement, accusing Netanyahu of using these assertions to distract Israeli public opinion and complicate the mediation efforts. Egypt stressed that such statements only serve to escalate tensions in an already fragile region and undermine the peace process.

Moreover, the ministry emphasized that Egypt holds the Israeli government responsible for the consequences of these statements. It views them as justifications for ongoing aggression and incitement, worsening the crisis. This, in turn, paves the way for further regional instability.

As a key player in Middle Eastern diplomacy, Egypt reaffirmed its commitment to leading the peace process, stressing the importance of continued efforts to ensure security and stability for all parties involved.

With tensions in the region rising, Egypt’s message remains clear: military escalation is not the answer, and sustained dialogue is essential for lasting peace in the Middle East.
