Egyptian Government Stops an Attempt to Smuggle 66 Egyptian Artifacts!

Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Dr. Mostafa Waziri revealed earlier during a meeting that the Central Administration of Ports and Archaeological Units in the Egyptian port has found 66 artifacts.

The artifacts were caught on the hands of Egyptian officials before being smuggled out of the country!

Waziri also announced that other artifacts apart from the smuggled ones were brought back!

The Ministry received 4 artifacts from Italy after it was proved that they were smuggled out illegally.

It also received 8 artifacts that were found by an Egyptian civilian and handed to authorities. Waziri announced during the meeting that the civilian will be awarded for his honorable efforts.

He also announced that these retrieved artifacts will be stored in the Saqqara storage unit so as to undergo restoration and be sent back for display.

A civilian by the name of Ahmed Abd El Latif also returned 87 artifacts.

125 artifacts were also handed by the Islamic Architect Omar El Farouk, along with 8 artifacts handed by the grandson of the head of the Iranian community in the royal era!
