A delegation from Egypt’s Ministry of Environment visited the northern Jordanian city of Jerash to inspect Al Ma’wa’s nature and wildlife. Al Ma’wa is a center in charge of protecting at-risk and endangered predatory animals.
After the visit, the Ministry sought to establish a joint park in Egypt’s own Wadi El Rayan which is located in Fayoum governorate.
The project is to be named “A Safe Haven for Wildlife in Wadi El Rayan Reserve in Fayoum” which will help redirect ecotourism to Egypt.
Wadi El Rayan Reserve is said to be the perfect location for this kind of project as it houses extremely rare and endangered species including the fennec fox, gazelles, and migrant birds. The first-of-its-kind project will relocate animals that are endangered in their original environment to regenerate their lifespan and enhance biodiversity between different species.
The project is also set to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of wildlife preservation and animal protection.
