Egyptian Minister Of Foreign Affairs And Immigration Affirmed Egypt’s Support To Lebanon

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration confirms Egypt’s support for Lebanon during his meetings in Beirut with the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Lebanese Prime Minister.

Doctor Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, with Mr. Nabih Berri, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Mr. Najib Mikati, Prime Minister of Lebanon, separately, on August 16, during his visit to Beirut.

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration and Director of the Public Diplomacy Department, stated that Minister Abdel Ati stressed that his current visit to Lebanon comes within the framework of the directives of the political leadership to confirm Egypt’s full and firm support for the sovereignty and stability of Lebanon, reviewing the efforts and contacts that have been made. Egypt rejects any violations of Lebanese sovereignty.

The official spokesman added that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration touched upon Egypt’s ongoing efforts to try to reach a ceasefire in Gaza as a key to calming the situation and ending the current regional escalation, reaffirming the Egyptian position aimed at preventing the expansion of the conflict and preventing the outbreak of a regional war that will push the entire region into an unprecedented situation of tension and instability.

He also stressed in this context that ending the war in Gaza and preventing its spread to Lebanon is an urgent Egyptian priority.

Minister Abdel Ati affirmed that Cairo is sparing no effort in its contacts at the bilateral level or through its coordination with the member states of the five-member committee for Lebanon to resolve the presidential vacancy crisis as soon as possible, indicating that Egypt is keen on ensuring that Lebanon’s sovereignty is not undermined.
