The National Telecom Regulatory Authority has announced that they got initial approval to increase the prices of internet and mobile services! This decision was approved in light of what was pointed out regarding the increase in operating costs for companies, which in turn leads to an increase in the prices of services provided to consumers.

The Head of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority indicated in his recent statements that an increase in the prices of telecommunications and internet services has become necessary. He attributed this to rising operational costs faced by companies, including higher fuel prices and the devaluation of the Egyptian pound. He emphasized that this increase aims to ensure the continued provision of services at an appropriate quality level for consumers.

This comes amid preliminary approval from the authority for companies’ requests to raise prices, while affirming that the move is intended to maintain the quality and sustainability of the services provided.

Since the announcement of the increase, social media users have expressed their concerns over the unprecedented surge, claiming it’s unfair to pay an amount and pay almost 60% taxes on its price!
