It’s no surprise that the topic of marriage has been one of great concern for young Egyptians in the last decade particularly. With inflation, rising property prices, the odds seemed to be stacked against young suitors. The most recent data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics revealed the actual marriage and divorce-patterns of Egyptians in 2021, which seem to show that young couples are indeed struggling.

Egypt’s divorce rates overall increased by 14.7%

Egyptian marriage rates were measured at 59.1% in rural areas and at 40.9% in urban areas, with a total of 245,777 divorce cases in 2021.

Most Egyptians who marry are between the ages of 25 and 30-years-old, but they are also the group that have the highest divorce rates of any demographic.
