On Tuesday evening, following a significant missile attack by Iran on Israel, Egypt experienced a rush of air traffic as several neighboring countries closed their airspace.
As a result, The Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation issued a statement reassuring travelers that Egyptian airspace remains secure and fully operational, despite the disruptions caused by the escalating situation in the region.
The ministry emphasized its commitment to ensuring safe travel, highlighting its ongoing coordination with nearby countries , particularly after Jordan and Iran closed their airspace in response to the unfolding events. One notable incident involved EgyptAir flight MS 701, which was en route from Cairo to Amman but had to return to Cairo International Airport due to the closure of Jordanian airspace.
In response, EgyptAir and Cairo International Airport’s public relations teams swiftly accommodated passengers from the affected flight. They ensured they received necessary support and services. Cairo International Airport is on heightened alert, ready to handle any additional aircraft that may need to divert from the affected regions.
The Cabinet emphasized Egypt’s condemnation of the dangerous Israeli escalation in southern Lebanon, affirming Egypt’s rejection of any attempts to establish a new situation on the ground that would undermine Lebanese sovereignty.
