Your September Electricity bill might startle you a little..

Brace yourselves! Egypt has implemented new increases in electricity consumption tariffs starting from last Saturday for prepaid meters. For old and mechanical meters, the new rates will be reflected in the September bill.

The Ministry of Electricity has decided to raise the electricity tariff rates for residential consumption in 2024, with an increase of up to 50% for the sixth tier, which covers consumption from 650 to 1000 kWh. This decision was made following preparation by the Electricity Regulatory Authority and Consumer Protection Agency, according to a source from the Ministry of Electricity.
