For EGP 100.. The Story Of A 13-Year-Old Child Who Hanged Himself Due To His Father’s Relentless Abuse

Raghad Khaled

Local media agencies have adopted the tragic story of a 13-year-old boy who devastatingly took his own life by hanging due to his father’s relentless abuse. After a severe abuse episode with his father, Islam went to his room and tragically hung himself from the ceiling fan.

According to Islam’s siblings, 19 and 18, their father sent them out to work from a very young age and took their money.

Islam’s sister, in an exclusive statement to Cairo 24, said that she witnessed the incident where their father beat Islam.

She said, “My father used to beat me and my siblings a lot.

At that time, when I tried to defend Islam, he threatened me and told me to stay out of it, so I had to stand still and not move. He hit Islam and broke a chair over him.”

She added: “My cousin went into Islam’s room and found him hanging himself with a rope from the fan after my father beat him and had a fight with him.” She continued: “My father is the reason for my brother’s death, and we will figure out how to get justice for him.”

She continued: “The last argument was about money because my father had made Islam work since he was 10 years old and took him out of school so he could bring him money. Every day, my father would take his earnings and spend it on himself. The fight was over an extra 100 pounds, and my father beat my brother severely. After that, Islam went into his room alone.”

Islam’s sister added that she, along with her two brothers, had been subjected to domestic violence and beatings by their father. She said: “He didn’t spend any money on us, and we all had to work to support ourselves. I’m 19, my brother Mahmoud is 18, and Islam was 13.

He made us work so he could take our money, and when we bought phones with our own money, he would take them and sell them to spend the money on himself.”

Islam’s desire to escape his father:

According to an agency that provides aid to children, Islam had been working towards saving up to advance his education. However, lately, his dad has been taking his money to satisfy his alleged alcohol drinking.

She also added that Islam had been attending classes to stay on track.

She also added “His last trip with us was to Kidzania. He came along and was so happy that he was going out. Just yesterday, I was talking to the tutor who was going to work with him to improve his skills, so that at least he could learn to read well. I’m so heartbroken. He was truly a wonderful and very smart boy. He was part of the committee responsible for the neighborhood kids. He had so much potential inside of him.”
