A short while ago, Habiba El Shamaa, known in the media as “El Shorouk Girl,” passed away after her health deteriorated following an incident where she jumped out of a car out of fear of abduction.
Earlier, a court renewed the detention of the suspect in the attempted abduction of Habiba El Shamaa, for 15 days pending investigations.
The investigations revealed that the girl suffered from fainting and bleeding as a result of jumping out of the car in fear of being abducted by the driver. The driver had sprayed some perfume inside the car while driving at high speed on the Suez Road, which instilled fear in the girl and prompted her to jump out of the car.

The Public Prosecution decided to review surveillance cameras and conduct drug tests on the accused driver, who had previously been accused in a drug case.
The suspect’s lawyer revealed that the driver did not intend to abduct the girl, but she suffered from an unfounded state of apprehension and fear. He stated that the accused has been working for years at “Uber” without any complaints, and he did not close the car doors while spraying the perfume, which is a clear reason for the lack of intention to abduct the girl.
The family’s lawyer submitted a request for civil compensation to the Public Prosecution against the accused and “Uber” company for the damages suffered by his client.
The Public Prosecution charged the accused with attempted abduction of the girl and causing her injuries as stated in the medical report.
