Hamas’s Ismail Haniyeh Visits Cairo Along With Khalid Mashal

Yesterday, a Hamas delegation led by the group’s leaders Ismail Haniyeh and Khalis Mashal arrived in Cairo for a meeting with the Director of the Egyptian Intelligence Agency, Abbas Kamel.

The group met with the Chief of Intelligence to discuss the issue of hostages and the dire need for a humanitarian ceasefire to stop the brutal massacre of Palestinian civilians.

According to Egyptian informed sources, the meeting saw the discussion of releasing foreign hostages, in exchange for a ceasefire.

The sources also pointed out that Hamas confirmed its openness to Egyptian mediation efforts, emphasizing that the Hamas delegation conveyed to the Egyptian intelligence chief the need to deliver fuel to the strip as soon as possible as part of the humanitarian ceasefire terms being worked on by both Egypt and Qatar, as Israel has been barring fuel from entering Gaza since the war started.

Haniyeh reiterated Hamas’s rejection of the forced displacement of civilians as Israel’s continuous bombardment of public facilities such as schools, hospitals, and mosques persists, according to the sources.

He also warned that the continued targeting of these facilities would predispose civilians to move to the southern border in order to fulfill their humanitarian needs.

This visit came 24 hours before the expected visit by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

The CIA’s Director, William Burns Meets With El-Sisi In Egypt

According to a statement by the Presidential spokesman, Ahmed Fahmy, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi received the Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) William Burns on Tuesday to discuss the Israeli war on Gaza.

The meeting, which was held in Cairo, was part of Burns’s tour of the Middle East to discuss the War in Gaza.

According to the Wall Street Journal; Burns delivered an offer proposal to El-Sisi to manage the security in Gaza, until the Palestinian Authority is ready to take over after the war, which El-Sisi rejected.

El-Sisi asserted that the Egyptian government “wouldn’t play a role in eliminating Hamas as it needs the militant group to help maintain security at the country’s border with the Gaza Strip,”

Additionally, El-Sisi also reaffirmed Egypt’s rejection of an “Israeli or NATO presence” in Gaza or any foreign force under any guise as Netanyahu stated that Israel will manage the security in the strip for an indefinite period, prompting a fear of reoccupation.

El-Sisi also reiterated that Cairo sees no settlement for the Palestinian cause but the two-state solution.
