Celebrating History at Ain Shams University!


The Ministries of Higher Education along with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities have recently inaugurated Al Zafaran Palace Museum at Ain Shams University. 

Al Zaafaran Museum was first established by Khedive Ismail on the ruins of Al-Hussah Palace in Abbasiyah and established by Muhammad Ali Pasha.

The palace was used at the beginning of its creation for weekends and horse rides and was then used by King Fouad I(1868-1936), and Queen Nazli as King Farouk I was born (1920-1965).  

It was then purchased by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, completely restored and furnished with luxury furniture to become an official guest house, and became a residence for senior visitors from 1930 to 1947.

 

Currently, the museum has been inaugurated as its been housing 167 artifacts in its basement from different time periods.

Therefore, the museum has been registered as a part of the Muslim, Christian, and Jewish heritage. 

The museum highlights the features of ancient Egyptian civilization and spread tourism and archaeological awareness among Egyptian youth referring to the artifacts displayed in the Palace.

The museum also offers an outstanding experience that reflects the richness of Egypt’s great history and its ancient civilization by displaying 167 artifacts from various historical periods from ancient Egyptian times to modern times. 

 Along with a collection of artifacts from the excavation work of the Egyptian archaeological mission of the University operating in the Arab Al-Hosn region, It recounts part of the history of the Ain Shams archaeological region from its inception to the present day.

The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities noted that the establishment of this museum was in light of the protocol of cooperation signed between the Supreme Council of Antiquities and Ain Shams University.
