Hossam Hassan’s journey in football has been extensive. He started his career playing primarily for his hometown club, Al Ahly. During his playing career, he also had short stints with teams in Greece, Switzerland, and other Egyptian clubs before retiring in 2008.

He resumed his coaching duties with the Modern Future club in the Egyptian league before being summoned by the Football Association to lead the national team.
