Did Bassem Youssef’s account get suspended on X, or did he deactivate it?

Following recent discussions surrounding Bassem Youssef’s suspended X account, the comedian’s response on Instagram has left many puzzled. Youssef initially responded sarcastically to the official Israel account after they mocked his account suspension.

Youssef revealed details about his account’s status on X, causing confusion among the audience. They had previously believed that his account was suspended due to his last post about anti-Semitism, but it was unclear whether X had taken down his account or if Youssef had deactivated it himself.

What Happened?

Subsequently, Bassem Youssef clarified that his account wasn’t taken down by X (formerly Twitter). He also mentioned that, when it comes to his loved ones, he needs to consider safety concerns. In a recent Instagram post, Youssef revealed that he would only return to X once he resolves safety issues concerning his loved ones. He clarified that he did not want to falsely victimize himself, stating, “When I resolve safety issues concerning my loved ones, I might consider coming back,” though he added that he was unsure when that might be.

Meanwhile, he emphasized his prefer to handle the situation away from the media. He noted that he would continue to post content on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.

Meanwhile, Bassem Youssef received a critical message on Monday, which was captured by other X users. In his post, Youssef criticized the use of the term “anti-Semitism” as a “fear tactic” meant to “shut down conversations” and “intimidate people,” as it was his last tweet.

There was initial speculation that one of Youssef’s last posts on X might have led to his account suspension. The comedian had commented on discussions about Israel’s attack on Gaza, stating: “Anti-Semitism was an accusation that used to freeze the blood in people’s veins.

Youssef also warned his followers to be cautious of any accounts on X pretending to be him, asserting that “any other account posing as me on Twitter is fake.”

Despite the controversy, many supporters believe that Bassem Youssef is under threat and stand by him during this turbulent time.
