Ibrahim Eissa, has once again ignited a heated debate following his recent criticism of teachers and doctors who wear niqab during an episode of his show Hona Al Qahera, broadcast on Al Kahera Wal Nas. Eissa questioned how students and patients might feel when interacting with teachers and doctors wearing Niqab, expressing concern about the communication barriers that could arise.
Eissa pointed out that during visits from the Ministry of Education to many schools, teachers wearing niqab were present. He then raised a controversial question: “How will students effectively engage and learn from those teachers?” He further expanded his argument to healthcare, suggesting that wear doctors who wear niqab may hinder patient interaction because patients are unable to see their faces, which he believes is an essential aspect of doctor-patient communication.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time Eissa has caused a stir with his opinions on niqab and religious practices. In a previous instance, he called for universities to be centers of knowledge and enlightenment, advocating that the ban on the niqab should be initiated by the Supreme Council of Universities and its president.
Eissa’s remarks have once again sparked a wave of reactions from supporters and critics alike, reigniting the ongoing debate on the role of religious attire in public institutions such as schools and hospitals.
