Internet Prices Have Skyrocketed And People Are Not Happy!
In shocking yet expected news, Telecom Egypt announced a price increase in the home internet packages. Subsequently, cellular companies also adjusted the prices of their packages and the recharging cards.
The Home Internet Increases Are As Follows:
- 140GB internet package has increased to 239.4 EGP per month, instead of 160 EGP
- 200GB internet package has increased to 330.6 EGP per month, instead of 225 EGP
- 250GB internet package has increased to 410.4 EGP per month, instead of 280 EGP
- 400GB internet package has increased to 649.8 EGP per month, instead of 440 EGP
- 600GB internet package has increased to 850 EGP per month, instead of 650 EGP
- 1TB internet package has increased to 1550.4 EGP per month, instead of 1050 EGP
Mobile Phone Recharge Card Prices After the Latest Increase:
- The 10 EGP recharge card is now priced at 13 EGP, providing a balance of 9.1 EGP.
- The 12.5 EGP recharge card is now priced at 16.5 EGP, providing a balance of 11.5 EGP.
- The 15 EGP recharge card is now priced at 19.5 EGP, providing a balance of 13.65 EGP.
- The 20 EGP recharge card is now priced at 26 EGP, providing a balance of 18.2 EGP.
- The 29 EGP recharge card is now priced at 38 EGP, providing a balance of 26.6 EGP.
After the news of the increases broke out, people took to social media to express their frustration and anger, claiming that the increases were unnecessary, given that WiFi is not an imported commodity.
In some tweets, social media users claimed that Egypt is the only country that still has “Limited” access, whereas poorer countries can enjoy the experience of “Unlimited” access to the internet.
