The Egyptian Cabinet’s Media Center has stated that the Grand Egyptian Museum will not be sold and will remain owned by the Egyptian state.
The Media Center clarified that recent rumors circulating on some social media pages and hostile media outlets about the government’s intention to “sell the Grand Egyptian Museum following the reshuffling of the Museum’s Board of Trustees for three years” are completely false and have no basis in reality.
The Media Center emphasized that such claims are merely another attempt to stir confusion by spreading rumors and falsehoods among the public. It also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserving all Egyptian antiquities and the country’s cultural heritage.
The statement added that there is ongoing monitoring of the developments at the Grand Egyptian Museum and the surrounding area in preparation for its upcoming opening. It mentioned that the official opening date will be agreed upon soon, with various procedures and steps for this historic event being put in place for this unique landmark.
