Egyptian Security Services Arrest Researcher Islam Beheiry on Multiple Court Rulings

Egyptian security services arrested researcher Islam Beheiry at dawn on Sunday, following six court rulings issued against him for issuing checks without sufficient funds.

A security source revealed that authorities apprehended Beheiry at his home in Cairo and transferred him to a rehabilitation and reform center to enforce these rulings. These rulings are at the first-degree litigation level, and Beheiry’s defense team may submit objections to the prosecution for consideration.

Allegations of Fraud

The most recent report against Beheiry was filed last week by an Arab woman who accused him of defrauding her of a significant sum of money.

Investigations disclosed that the complainant had several investments in an Arab country. Two years ago, Beheiry persuaded her of his ability to manage her investment funds. She transferred a substantial amount of money to him, which he has yet to return.

The woman stated that she transferred the money from her bank account to Beheiry’s account for investment in the Egyptian Stock Exchange. However, Beheiry did not follow through on the investment. Despite her repeated requests for the return of the funds, Beheiry evaded her attempts to contact him and no longer responds to her phone calls.
