Japanese Embassy Honored These 4 Egyptian Individuals

The Japanese Embassy honored 4 distinguished Egyptians by awarding them the Japanese Order of the Sun, and among them, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Amr Moussa!

According to the Japan Foundation website, the Order of the Rising Sun, which was established in 1875 by Emperor Meiji, is a decoration of honor given each year in April to reward Japanese and foreign people who have significantly contributed to Japan’s growth and advancement.

There are six grades of the Order, which recognizes accomplishments in a variety of fields, such as the advancement of culture and international relations, the website clarifies.

So, Here are the four individuals who were honored!

 

Amr Moussa, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Secretary General of the Arab League!

 

For his significant contributions to advancing Egyptian-Japanese cooperation projects, such as the Suez Canal suspension bridge, the renovation of Cairo University’s Children’s Hospital, and the provision of medical equipment to improve maternal and child healthcare in Egypt, Moussa was awarded Japan’s highest honor, the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star.

In addition, Moussa founded the Japan-Arab Commercial Forum while serving as secretary-general of the Arab League, setting the foundation for stronger commercial connections between Japan and Arab countries.

 

Mona Ahmed, Former First Undersecretary And Head of the Asian Affairs Sector at the Ministry of International Cooperation! 

 

For her significant contribution to the accomplishment of more than 17 projects between the Japanese and Egyptian governments and international organizations in a variety of fields, including irrigation, airports, energy, health, environment, electricity, education, culture, and others, Mona received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon.

Additionally, from 2013 to 2021, she sat on the board of trustees of the Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology!

Fareg Barakat El-Sayed, Public Relations Director and Arabic Language Teacher at the Japanese School in Abu Dhabi!

 

For teaching Arabic and imparting the culture of the United Arab Emirates to over 2,300 Japanese youngsters who attended the Japanese School in Abu Dhabi, Farag Barakt has been given the Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays.

Additionally, he sought to improve 130 Emirati children’s grasp of Japanese culture and customs, fostering the growth of human resources with a wide global perspective!

Tarek El-Sayed Mohamed, Head of the Urasenke Tankokai Association in Egypt

Tarek received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold, and Silver Rays for his contributions to promoting Japanese culture, particularly the art of the Japanese tea ceremony.
