Layal was a normal one-year-old baby, full of life and curiosity, until she caught the flu—an illness that is known to be common but instead, it changed everything. It took a devastating turn when she suddenly fell into a coma.

Her family, desperate for answers, followed every treatment recommendation, hoping she would recover. Doctors ran endless tests and eventually discovered that she had contracted a virus attacking her brain.

Despite their best efforts, they couldn’t find a cure, nor could they determine the right course of action to bring her back. As time passed, hope began to fade, and the heartbreaking decision was just on the verge of being made. They were about to remove her from life support.

But then, against all odds, Layal woke up.

No one could explain what had caused her coma or what had brought her back. It was simply God’s will from beginning to end. But while her life had been miraculously saved, the virus and the prolonged coma had left their mark, she could no longer walk or see.

Her family, though shaken by the drastic change, held onto one thing: gratitude. No matter how difficult the journey ahead seemed, they were simply thankful that she was still alive.

Determined not to let her condition define her future, Layal began her long road to recovery. So, in 2018, she underwent surgery that restored her vision, allowing her to see once again. With dedication, therapy, and relentless perseverance, her mobility also slowly improved.

And just last Ramadan, she underwent another critical surgery to correct her foot, spending three months in a cast. Every step of her journey was filled with challenges, but she never stopped fighting. Layal’s resilience became a testament to her unbreakable spirit.
