Egypt’s very own Logina Salah made a landmark achievement at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant, held in Mexico City on Sunday. In a moment that’s set to be remembered in the history books, Salah became the first Egyptian contestant to break into the top 30 in the event’s 73-year history. It was a stunning feat that brought national pride and a wave of excitement across Egypt.
For years, Miss Universe has been a platform where contestants from around the world compete not just for beauty, but for talent, intelligence, and advocacy. While Egypt has previously sent contestants to the pageant, this year marked a breakthrough with Salah’s top 30 placement — the first for her country. Her achievement was celebrated as a major milestone in the history of Egyptian representation at global beauty pageants.
Logina Salah, who is based in Dubai, has long been passionate about pageantry. In a candid interview with Arab News, she spoke about how the recent rule changes in 2023 opened up new opportunities for women, especially for those who didn’t fit the traditional mold. “I feel like the world is getting closer to including everybody,” she said, reflecting on the decision to lift age restrictions and allow mothers to participate. “When those restrictions were lifted, I saw it as the perfect opportunity.”
Salah shared how she had always dreamt of participating in a pageant but had put the idea on hold, thinking she might save it for her daughter someday. “Pageantry was always on my mind, but I always said, ‘Let me keep it for my daughter, maybe she would be interested,’” she explained. “I used to dream about it, but now the dream came back to life. I applied, and, thank God, I made it to Miss Universe!”
Her hard work and determination paid off as she earned her spot among the top contenders at Miss Universe 2024, setting an inspiring example for future generations of Egyptian women.

The 21-year-old dancer, entrepreneur, and aspiring lawyer triumphed over more than 120 contestants to claim the coveted title. Theilvig’s win was a groundbreaking moment for her home country, and she expressed her pride in her victory, which symbolizes a new chapter for Danish beauty on the world stage.
Salah’s placement in the top 30, alongside Theilvig’s historic win, signals an exciting shift in the pageant world, where more inclusive and diverse definitions of beauty and talent are celebrated. The 2024 edition not only brought fresh faces to the spotlight but also underscored how the Miss Universe platform continues to evolve, empowering women to redefine success on their own terms.
